Please tell us about the work you are currently doing.
I joined the company in April 2007 and worked in Air cargo export department for 7 years, and after 5 years at the sales office in Kyoto, I was transferred to Hong Kong Nissin in 2019. As for my work, I am involved in marine, aviation, and warehouse sales and management of sales teams.
What is the most memorable job you've ever had?
There are many things that stand out in my mind, such as hand carry for super-urgent projects and warehouse expansion, but the one that sticks out to me the most is when the coronavirus started in January 2020 and the world's logistics function came to a standstill. With regular flights canceling almost every day and temporary flights suddenly operating, we worked together with our staff to resolve urgent shipping requests from customers, and for several months we were able to meet their requests without sleep. There were other things, but this one left the biggest impression on me.
Do you feel any difference between Japan and other countries?
The big difference between Hong Kong and Japanese culture is that there are few things that people can understand or understand without you having to say it. If you don't clearly communicate what you're thinking, what you want to convey to the other person, and what instructions you need to give them, things often don't go as planned.
On the other hand, once something has begun to progress, it moves very quickly, so I am often forced to make decisions about everything.
Is there anything you should have learned/something you wish you had acquired before you were stationed here?
Regarding language, the language and level required will vary depending on the country you are working in, so I don't think you need to worry too much about it. Personally, I feel that it is important to take action on your own and acquire the skills to make decisions without leaving anything to others.
How do you spend your days off?
Since I am working with my family, I spend every weekend with them.
Hong Kong has many remote islands, and you can easily travel between them by ferry, so you can go to various remote islands and enjoy seafood dishes, or ride the tram and enjoy the scenery that combines Chinese and British culture. .
Please tell us about your future goals and dreams.
We would like to expand the share of Japanese companies operating in Hong Kong and further establish Hong Kong Nissin 's position. In addition to building good relationships with long-standing customers, which is one of Nissin 's strengths, we would like to acquire new customers and aim to further expand our warehouse and staff.
Please give a message to job hunters!
When I was looking for a job and was selecting a company, my first condition was to find a company that would allow me to work overseas in the future. Fortunately, I am currently assigned to Hong Kong, so I am able to work in English and Cantonese. I think it is very difficult to find a company that suits you among the many companies out there, but I think Nissin is a very attractive company for job hunters who want to work overseas.
