Please tell us about the work you are currently doing.

I joined the company in April 2010 and mainly gained experience in importing and exporting food logistics in the Food Logistics Sales Department. In April 2017, I was transferred to NISSIN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT U.S.A., INC., where I am currently. My work involves sales related to all logistics such as sea, air, land transportation, warehousing, and moving, and specifically includes customer visits (new and existing), quotation creation, customer service, and on-site attendance. Masu. Many logistics companies from all over the world, including Japanese logistics companies, are operating in Los Angeles. I believe that my job as a salesperson is to think about and act on a daily basis in response to the question, ``How can I get people to choose Nissin out of all the logistics companies out there?'' In my case, I work every day with particular awareness of the following four points.

  • Regular contact with customers

  • quick response

  • Strong operations (communication within and outside the company)

  • Strong on-site skills (visiting the site himself)

interview 02

What is the most memorable job you've ever had?

The most memorable work for me was when everyone at the Los Angeles branch worked together to launch a new project to export food ingredients from the United States to Japan. This customer was a major customer that I was in charge of in Japan before I was transferred to the US, and even after I was posted here, my boss and I continued to visit the company's US branch office, have dinner with them, play golf, etc., and we gained a lot of trust from them. We built a relationship. One day, we received a call from a customer asking if we could handle all logistics for Japan. (I can't tell you the quantity here, but it was a very large project.) After that, we spent several hectic months building the system, inspecting various sites, hiring people, preparing presentation materials, and starting the actual work. However, everyone came together as one towards the goal and was able to accomplish it safely. It is now a major customer of NISSIN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT U.S.A., INC..

interview 03

Do you feel any difference between Japan and other countries?

The big difference between Japan and overseas is that you can gain a wider range of experience overseas. There is a lot of pressure every day as I experience things for the first time, but taking on challenges without fear of failure makes it all the more rewarding. In addition, living abroad will deepen your family ties, as you will be able to support each other as a family.

interview 04

Is there anything you should have learned/something you wish you had acquired before you were stationed here?

Although this is not limited to before being posted, I think the most important thing is to value the connections you make with the colleagues and customers you work with on a daily basis, and to expand your network. Overseas, relationships within and outside the company are even more widespread than in Japan. Logistics work cannot be done alone. I think it is important to always work with a humble attitude and remember to be grateful to those around you. Also, other things that would be good would be hobbies, language skills, golf skills, etc. that you can passionately talk about to others.

interview 05

How do you spend your days off?

Even in the United States, Los Angeles is home to a particularly large number of Japanese people. In fact, there are many Japanese people living in the area where I live, and I have family relationships with my neighbors. On my days off, I enjoy having BBQs with these people, going to parks with my kids for picnics, and just relaxing. We also go to national parks, zoos and aquariums. Many people enjoy cycling as the climate is stable all year round.

interview 06

Please tell us about your future goals and dreams.

We would like to continue to steadily conduct daily sales activities and expand our connections with customers. Most recently, I am aiming to become the number one salesperson in the logistics industry in the competitive Los Angeles area. In the future, I would like to take advantage of my past experience and challenge myself in countries other than Japan and the United States.

interview 07

Please give a message to job hunters!

One of Nissin 's strengths is its global network. There are many opportunities for students to succeed in the future, both domestically and internationally. And there are reassuring friends there who support you kindly and carefully. The reason I am able to gain valuable experience here now is because of the strong support I received from my superiors and senior colleagues in my previous department. Even after I was transferred to NISSIN INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT U.S.A., INC., I hit a wall every day, and my superiors and colleagues around me reached out to help me each time. By all means, let's work together as a member of Nissin Group with the aim of becoming an international logistics professional!
